DanDan Chat ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our messaging application.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name and either your phone number or email address for authentication purposes. A unique chat number is assigned to your account.

Messages: DanDan Chat uses end-to-end encryption (E2EE). Messages are encrypted on your device before being sent and can only be decrypted by the intended recipient. We cannot read your messages.

Profile Information: You may optionally add a profile photo, bio, and background image.

Usage Data: We collect minimal usage data to improve app performance, including crash reports and general usage statistics.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account
• To enable messaging, voice calls, and video calls
• To send verification codes via SMS or email
• To provide push notifications for new messages and calls
• To improve app performance and fix bugs

3. Camera Usage

DanDan Chat uses the camera to enable video calls between users and to allow users to capture and share photos and videos directly within chat conversations. The camera is also used for scanning QR codes during security verification (Safety Number verification) between contacts. Camera data is not stored on our servers unless explicitly shared by the user.

4. End-to-End Encryption

All messages in DanDan Chat are protected with end-to-end encryption using ECDH P-256 key exchange and AES-GCM symmetric encryption. Your private encryption keys are stored only on your device. The server maintains a zero-knowledge design — we cannot access the content of your messages.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

• Service Providers: We use Twilio for SMS delivery and Resend for email delivery, which process your phone number or email solely for sending verification codes.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and safety.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), secure session management, and encrypted key backups. Encryption keys are protected with multiple layers of security.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, which will remove your personal data from our servers. Statuses (stories) are automatically deleted after 24 hours.

9. Children's Privacy

DanDan Chat is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
